Job summary

Legacy Healthcare is seeking a compassionate Respiratory Therapist (RT) to join our Skilled Nursing Facility team. You will provide respiratory care, monitor residents, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure comfort and well-being.

The role emphasizes hands-on patient care, education for residents and families, and adherence to safety and infection-control protocols. We welcome both new graduates and experienced RTs to apply.

Qualifications

  • Current Respiratory Therapist license/credential required for the applicable state.
  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Experience in a skilled nursing, long-term care, hospital, rehabilitation, or post-acute setting is preferred but not required.
  • Strong assessment and communication skills.
  • Dependable, professional, and compassionate approach to resident care.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • New graduates and experienced Respiratory Therapists are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory therapy services to residents in accordance with physician orders and individualized care plans.
  • Perform respiratory assessments and monitor residents for changes in respiratory status.
  • Provide treatments such as oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatments, breathing treatments, and other respiratory care as ordered.
  • Assist with respiratory equipment and ensure equipment is properly maintained and used safely.
  • Monitor oxygen saturation, respiratory rate, lung sounds, and other relevant clinical indicators.
  • Recognize changes in a resident's respiratory condition and communicate concerns promptly to nursing and medical staff.
  • Collaborate with nurses, physicians, rehabilitation staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Educate residents, families, and caregivers regarding respiratory treatments, equipment, and disease management as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
  • Follow infection-control, safety, and facility policies and procedures.
  • Provide compassionate, respectful care while maintaining resident dignity and privacy.
