Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Staff Power Electronics Engineer to drive the development of SATCOM power systems from architecture through production. You will lead design, verification, and qualification of power converters and power supplies for military and commercial platforms, mentoring a small team and collaborating across engineering disciplines.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 8 years of experience designing analog and power electronics.
• Experience with power architectures, SWAP-C trade studies, and topology selection.
• Experience designing/off-line AC-DC and DC-DC power supplies for industrial, airborne, or military systems.
• Knowledge of control theory and stability of power electronics.
• Experience with power filters and EMC.
• Experience with design verification plans and production acceptance tests.
• Hands-on testing with oscilloscopes, impedance/spectrum analyzers, electronic loads, and signal generators.
• Experience with SPICE/Simulations (MATLAB/Simulink).
• Experience with isolation, grounding, thermal management, and fault-tolerant design.
• Experience in automotive/industrial/aircraft/military standards (FCC, CISPR, UL, NASA, MIL).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of power system architectures and subsystems.
• Design DC-DC converters and power distribution for 0.8 V to 400 V, up to 20 kW+.
• Design single-phase and three-phase AC-DC power supplies.
• Conduct WCA, stress analysis, FMEA, reliability analyses.
• Develop verification and production test plans for power converters.
• Lead board bring-up and design verification testing.
• Oversee system integration, qualification campaigns and production releases.
• Mentor engineers and lead a small team.
