Job summary

CesiumAstro in Austin, Texas seeks a Staff Power Electronics Engineer to lead the development of spacecraft power systems. You will architect power subsystems, design high-efficiency DC-DC converters, and guide verification from concept through production.

You will mentor engineers, drive cross-functional collaboration with propulsion, RF, and mechanical teams, and help deliver reliable power hardware for satellites and space platforms, with a strong emphasis on reliability and testability.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or higher from an accredited university.
• 9+ years designing analog and power electronics.
• Experience with SWAP-C and power-architecture trade studies.
• Experience with DC-DC converter control and power stage design (isolated/non-isolated).
• Proficient with test equipment and troubleshooting power electronics designs.

Responsibilities

• Define electrical power system architecture and derive subsystem requirements.
• Design DC-DC converters, motor drives, inverters, and power management circuits from concept to production release.
• Perform detailed design of analog and power electronics circuits from single to multi-output modules.
• Conduct worst-case analysis, FMEA, reliability analysis, and power integrity checks.
• Develop verification/test plans and requirement traceability for production.
• Lead board bring-up and design verification testing of power electronics.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead a small power electronics team.
