Job summary

Affirm is hiring for its App Infrastructure team to own the shared mobile app stack across the company. You’ll steer technical strategy, collaborate with product, design and analytics, and raise the bar for reliability and performance in a large React Native codebase.

You’ll lead important features, mentor engineers, and shape the development of tools and processes that other teams rely on. This remote-first role emphasizes ownership and high-quality delivery.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience developing and architecting mobile applications, 4+ using React Native.
• Proficient in Javascript/Typescript.
• Hands-on React Native and Expo; authored or migrated native modules/components.
• Experience with complex state management; Redux Toolkit is a bonus.
• RN SDK updates and debugging across JS-native boundary.
• Stays up-to-date on native OS releases and how they land in RN apps.
• Experience with mobile testing and observability tooling: Maestro/Appium, Sentry/Crashlytics, experimentation/feature-flagging platforms.
• Proficient in AI-assisted development and judgement on where agents help.
• Proven track record delivering major features and architectures.
• Strong communication skills and ability to drive cross-functional collaboration.
• Equivalent practical experience or Bachelor’s in a related field.

• Set technical strategy for the team on a year-long horizon.

• Act as a force-multiplier by defining technical solutions and operational processes.
• Own team operations and availability with monitoring, playbooks, testing and on-call readiness.

• Develop talent by providing feedback and guidance, leading by example.
