Job summary

Meta is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to shape the future of JavaScript tooling and developer infrastructure across Meta's products. You will design and implement JS compiler enhancements, build tooling like linters and test runners, and integrate AI-powered capabilities into developer workflows.

You will drive architecture for JS tooling systems used by thousands of engineers to build faster and safer at scale, mentoring others and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 8+ years of front-end software engineering experience including JavaScript, HTML, CSS.
• Experience leading major front-end initiatives with cross-team coordination.
• Experience designing scalable, accessible UI systems for large user bases.
• Experience using data, experimentation frameworks, and telemetry to drive decisions.
• Experience communicating technical decisions in writing to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of compiler passes and JavaScript transformations.
• Build and enhance tooling infrastructure including linters, test runners, and code analysis tools.
• Integrate AI-powered capabilities into developer workflows.
• Drive end-to-end delivery of major JS tooling initiatives across teams.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in build systems and JS execution.
• Establish and evolve best practices for JavaScript tooling and AST manipulation.
• Mentor engineers on compiler design and tooling architecture.
• Partner with stakeholders to drive technical decisions and roadmaps.
• Proactively address technical debt and migrations to modern standards.
• Communicate strategy and roadmaps clearly to leadership and teams.
