Meta seeks a Staff Software Engineer to shape JavaScript tooling and developer infrastructure across its product family. You will design JS compiler enhancements, build linters and test runners, and weave AI-powered capabilities into developer workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of frontend software engineering (JS/HTML/CSS).
• Experience leading frontend initiatives with complex architecture and cross-team coordination.
• Experience designing scalable, accessible UI systems for large user bases.
• Data-driven decisions using telemetry and experimentation.
• Ability to communicate technical decisions to diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of compiler passes and JS transformations to improve quality and performance.
• Build and enhance tooling infrastructure (linters, test runners, analysis tools).
• Integrate AI capabilities into developer workflows for code generation and fixes.
• Drive end-to-end delivery of major JS tooling initiatives across teams.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in build systems and runtimes.
• Establish best practices for JS tooling, including AST manipulation and incremental compilation.
• Mentor engineers on compiler design and tooling architecture.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to drive tool roadmap and technical decisions.
• Address technical debt and migrate tooling to modern standards.
• Communicate strategy and trade-offs clearly to leadership and engineers.
