Job summary

Meta seeks a Staff Software Engineer to shape the future of JavaScript tooling and developer infrastructure across Meta's family of products. You will design and implement JS compiler enhancements, build and improve developer tools such as linters and test runners, and integrate LLM-powered capabilities into developer workflows.

You will drive the architecture and technical direction of JS tooling systems that empower thousands of engineers to build faster, safer, and more efficiently at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in CS/Engineering.
• 8+ years in front-end software engineering with JavaScript, HTML, CSS.
• Experience leading front-end initiatives with complex architecture and cross-team coordination.
• Experience building scalable, accessible UI systems for large user bases.
• Experience using data and telemetry to inform decisions.
• Experience communicating decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of compiler passes and JavaScript transformations.
• Build and enhance developer tooling infrastructure (linters, test runners, code analysis).
• Integrate LLM-powered capabilities into developer workflows.
• Drive end-to-end delivery of major JS tooling initiatives across teams.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in build systems and JS execution.
• Establish best practices for JavaScript tooling (AST, static analysis, incremental compilation).
• Mentor engineers on compiler design and tooling architecture.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to drive technical decisions and roadmaps.
• Address technical debt and migrations to modern standards.
• Communicate strategy and roadmaps to leadership.
