Job summary

Meta is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to shape JavaScript tooling and developer infrastructure across Meta's products. You will design and implement JS compiler enhancements, and build tooling such as linters and test runners, while integrating AI-powered capabilities into developer workflows.

You will drive architecture for JS tooling systems, mentor engineers, and collaborate with stakeholders to set roadmaps, ensuring scalable, fast, and high-quality developer experiences at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in computer science or a related field.
• 8+ years of frontend software engineering experience including JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Experience leading major frontend initiatives with complex system architecture and cross-team coordination.
• Experience building scalable, performant, accessible UI systems for large user bases.
• Experience using data, experiments, and telemetry to guide frontend decisions.
• Strong written communication of technical decisions to varied audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of compiler passes and JavaScript transformations to improve code quality and developer experience.
• Build and enhance developer tooling infrastructure such as linters and test runners.
• Integrate AI-powered capabilities into developer workflows to accelerate code generation and tooling.
• Drive end-to-end delivery of JS tooling initiatives and coordinate across teams.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in build systems, bundlers, and JS execution.
• Establish best practices for JavaScript tooling, including AST manipulation and incremental compilation.
