Job summary

Remitly, Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to build a new generation of financial services for money receivers, spanning web, mobile, and backend systems.

You will define technical direction, design APIs, and drive end-to-end delivery with a focus on security, observability, and scalable architectures. You will mentor teams, collaborate with product, design, and compliance, and push for innovation with AI-assisted development while ensuring reliability and strong regulatory alignment

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software development experience and track record of building and operating systems end-to-end.
• Expertise delivering customer-facing experiences at product scale with TypeScript/React and native mobile development.
• Strong backend skills in Java, Kotlin, Go, or Python with production-grade code.
• Experience designing distributed systems, service-oriented or event-driven architectures, RESTful/async APIs, and databases.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction and architecture for full-stack systems powering receiver experiences across web, mobile, and backend services.
• Own APIs, data models, and event-driven designs serving tens of millions of users.
• Deliver 0-to-1 product experiences by breaking down greenfield problems into concrete technical strategies.
• Integrate receiver capabilities with global disbursement, FX, liquidity, and regulatory platforms while ensuring data consistency.
• Mentor engineers, lead design/code reviews, and promote best practices in coding, testing, and system design.
