Job summary

Amberwoods of Farmington in Farmington, CT seeks an experienced Staff Development Coordinator to lead education and training for our nursing team. This 20-hour-a-week role offers a flexible schedule in a progressive long-term care facility.

You will conduct orientation and in-service programs, provide continuing education, assess competencies, coach staff, and promote resident safety in alignment with CMS and state regulations.

Qualifications

• Current State of Connecticut Registered Nurse License
• CMS and state regulations knowledge to promote education
• 2 years of clinical managerial nursing experience
• Effective communication with nursing personnel
• Excellent computer skills including EMRs
• Strong leadership and motivational abilities
• Detail-oriented with solid organizational skills
• Flexible hours and ability to communicate with diverse teams

Responsibilities

• Conduct general orientation and mandatory in-service programs
• Provide continuing education to improve skills
• Perform competency skills assessments for safety training
• Evaluate competencies and determine training needs
• Determine and assess facility educational needs
• Monitor transition from orientation to ensure quality care
• Coach employees through knowledge, skill and encouragement
• Apply teaching modules that foster critical thinking
• Communicate areas of concern with the Administrator/DNS
• Create optimal employee relations to motivate and retain staff
