Job summary

Cribl is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to lead Cribl's data engineering efforts, shaping the architecture of core data systems and guiding production-grade outcomes. You will collaborate across analytics, SRE, IT, and business teams, mentoring engineers and driving the data platform forward with a focus on Snowflake and the modern data stack.

In this role, you will own RBAC/permissions design, cost optimization, and cloud-native services on AWS, including self-hosted orchestration and data

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in Snowflake data modeling, query performance tuning, cost management.
• Demonstrated technical leadership: tech lead or staff-level engineer setting direction.
• Strong Python and SQL fundamentals with solid ELT and data modeling experience.
• Hands-on experience operating self-hosted / self-managed orchestration; Prefect preferred; other schedulers acceptable.
• Hands-on AWS and infrastructure-as-code experience: Terraform or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture and design decisions for core data systems and drive reliable, production-grade outcomes.
• Mentor and grow data engineers through code reviews and pairing.
• Shape the platform roadmap and engineering standards for data pipelines and warehouse.
• Develop cloud-native services and infrastructure on AWS; build CI/CD and deployment patterns.
• Ensure data is accurate, timely, and trusted with logging, observability, and governance.
