Job summary

Cribl is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to lead Cribl’s Data Engineering team, setting technical direction for data systems powering analytics, data science, and decision-making across the company, working at the intersection of Snowflake, SQL, dbt, AWS, and self-hosted orchestration.

You’ll mentor engineers, own and optimize the Snowflake environment and data pipelines, advance the modern data stack, and partner with IT/Security to ensure secure, scalable, and cost-efficient platforms.

Qualifications

• Snowflake advanced data modeling, performance tuning, cost management, RBAC design.
• Experience as tech lead or staff engineer.
• Excellent communication across data, engineering and business.
• Track record mentoring engineers.
• Strong Python and SQL fundamentals, ELT patterns, data modeling.
• Hands-on experience operating self-hosted orchestration (Prefect preferred; Airflow/Dagster acceptable).
• Hands-on AWS and infrastructure-as-code with Terraform.
• Experience building cloud applications or backend services.
• Production-grade engineering practices: logging, alerting, CI/CD.
• Fluency with AI-assisted development platforms.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead for the Data Engineering team.
• Partner with stakeholders across functions.
• Own and operate self-hosted orchestration.
• Own Cribl’s Snowflake environment.
• Build, operate, and monitor core data tech stack.
• Advance the modern data stack and dbt practice.
• Develop cloud-native services on AWS.
• Advance IaC practices with Terraform.
• Mentor and grow data engineers.
• Support AI/agentic initiatives.
• Contribute to secure engineering practices.
• Occasional duties outside standard hours.
