Job summary

Cribl is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to lead Cribl's Data Engineering team, shaping the architecture of core data systems and guiding cross-functional collaboration. You will own orchestration platforms, manage a hybrid self-hosted environment, and drive performance and cost optimization in Snowflake.

This is a high-leverage technical leadership role in a remote-first, globally distributed team. You will mentor engineers, advance dbt practices, and contribute to AI-driven data workflows, while

Qualifications

• Deep Snowflake expertise including data modeling and cost/security considerations.
• Strong Python and SQL fundamentals with ELT experience.
• Hands-on AWS and infrastructure-as-code practices with Terraform.
• Experience operating self-hosted orchestration (Prefect preferred; Airflow/Dagster acceptable).
• Mentor engineers and contribute to architectural decisions.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical lead for Cribl's Data Engineering team.
• Own architecture and design for core data systems and ensure reliable outcomes.
• Partner with Data Analysts, SREs, IT, and business teams.
• Clarify requirements, validate outputs, and communicate risks and timelines.
• Own and operate self-hosted orchestration platform and Prefect deployment.
• Manage upgrade paths and cost tradeoffs of a hybrid, self-hosted model.
• Own Cribl's Snowflake environment and data governance aspects.
• Build, monitor, and optimize data pipelines, ingestion services, and warehouse.
