Job summary

Cribl is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to lead the Data Engineering team, shaping architecture for analytics, data science, and operational decisions using Snowflake, SQL, dbt, and AWS. This remote-friendly role emphasizes hands-on leadership and collaboration across the company.

You will mentor engineers, advance dbt practices, own orchestration on self-hosted platforms, and optimize data pipelines, RBAC, and costs at scale for Cribl’s telemetry-focused platform.

Qualifications

• Deep Snowflake data modeling, warehouse performance tuning, and cost management.
• Proven technical leadership as tech lead or staff-level engineer.
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration with data, engineering, and business teams.
• Mentor engineers and grow junior to mid-level staff.
• Strong Python and SQL fundamentals with ELT and data modeling experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Data Engineering team and set architecture direction.
• Own architecture for core data systems and drive production-grade outcomes.
• Partner with Data Analysts, SREs, IT Engineers, and business teams.
• Clarify requirements, validate outputs, and communicate risks and timelines.
• Own self-hosted orchestration and operate Prefect deployments.
