Job summary

Anthropic is seeking a Staff+ Software Engineer to join the Claude Managed Agents team. You will own end-to-end platform components from API design to production operations, building scalable, reliable systems that power agent orchestration and tool usage.

You’ll collaborate with product, research, and DX teams to shape what “managed” means for the next generation of agents while navigating a fast-growing beta.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of practical experience as a backend, distributed systems, or infrastructure engineer.
• Experience designing and operating stateful, long-running, or high-throughput systems in production.
• Strong product sense; treat API design as a product and collaborate with cross-functional partners.
• Comfort navigating ambiguity and driving 0→1 initiatives from ideation to production.

Responsibilities

• Scale the platform, including durable session storage, sandbox orchestration, streaming, and multi-tenant isolation.
• Evolve the harness and prove it with evals; build infrastructure to measure harness quality against baselines.
• Help builders get the most out of Claude with safe, high‑quality agent capabilities.
• Design APIs for agents, environments, sessions, vaults, and event streams with stable contracts.
