Job summary

Anthropic is seeking experienced backend and distributed systems engineers to join the Agentic Systems team within our Platform organization. You will own end-to-end platform capabilities for Claude Managed Agents, including session handling, sandbox orchestration, memory, and APIs designed for stability across model releases.

You will collaborate with research, product, and developer experience to define and ship scalable, observable systems.

Qualifications

8+ years of backend or distributed systems experience.
Experience operating stateful, long-running or high-throughput systems in production.
Strong API design sense and product-minded.
Comfort with 0→1 work and ambiguity.
Experience using Claude or AI tools in software development.
Ownership from design to deployment and on-call.

Responsibilities

Scale the platform: design and operate durable session storage, sandbox orchestration, streaming, scheduling, and multi-tenant isolation.
Evolve the harness and prove it with evals, including eval infrastructure and performance baselines.
Help builders maximize Claude capabilities: outcome-driven execution, multi-agent orchestration, memory, observability, and tracing.
Design APIs that outlast implementations: versioning, ergonomics across API/SDK/CLI, sensible defaults.
