Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking a Staff Automation and Controls Engineer to serve as the technical authority for control system software across reactor and fuel manufacturing facilities. You will own PLC/DCS programming, SCADA/HMI, ISA-88 batch control, alarm management, safety logic, historians, and enterprise integration, from capital project execution through ongoing operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Computer, Systems Engineering, or related.
• 8+ years of controls software, PLC programming, or SCADA development experience in process industries.
• End-to-end ownership of controls software scope on at least one major capital project.
• Expert-level PLC programming on IEC 61131-3 platforms (Rockwell, Siemens, Emerson, or equivalent).
• Experience leading alarm rationalization and ISA-18.2, and HMI systems per ISA-101/HPHMI.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve PLC/DCS application code, SCADA applications, safety logic, and test documentation.
• Define discipline software standards, templates, and change control practices.
• Lead control strategy and software architecture for first-of-a-kind plant control problems.
• Mentor senior and junior software engineers; run structured code reviews; participate in hiring and interviews.
• Maintain engineering records with traceability for design decisions and software changes.
