Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking Senior Automation and Controls Engineers to develop, configure, test, and commission the control system software for our reactor and nuclear fuel manufacturing facilities. The role covers PLC and DCS programming, SCADA and HMI application development, ISA-88 batch control, alarm management, safety logic programming, historian configuration, and ISA-95 enterprise integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Computer, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
• 5+ years of controls software, PLC programming, or SCADA development experience in process industries.
• Hands‑on PLC programming experience with major platforms using IEC 61131‑3 languages.
• Hands‑on SCADA development on major platforms (Ignition, FactoryTalk, AVEVA, WinCC).
• Experience designing HMI displays to ISA‑101/HPHMI principles.
• Experience developing ISA‑88 batch control sequences.
• Experience configuring alarm management systems (ISA‑18.2).
• Experience configuring plant historian systems and dashboards.
• Familiarity with ISA‑95 enterprise‑control integration concepts.
• Knowledge of OPC‑UA, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus.
• Ability to read P&IDs/loop diagrams.
• Software version control and change control practice.
• Experience with IEC 61511 safety logic programming.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain PLC and DCS application programs using major platforms.
• Develop and configure SCADA applications including tag databases and scripting.
• Design HMI displays for local panels and supervisory SCADA levels.
• Develop batch control software per ISA‑88 for unit procedures and recipes.
• Configure alarm systems to ISA‑18.2 and manage KPI reporting.
• Program safety logic on SIS platforms per IEC 61511.
• Configure historian systems and build data dashboards.
• Implement ISA‑95 enterprise-control integration via REST APIs and databases.
• Coordinate with I&C hardware on I/O and tagging.
• Provide technical direction to contractors and junior engineers.
• Maintain nuclear-quality documentation and traceability.
