Job summary
Valar Atomics is hiring an Automation and Controls Engineer to help develop, configure, test, and commission control system software for our reactor and nuclear fuel manufacturing facilities. You will work under senior engineers across PLC programming, SCADA/HMI, batch control, alarm configuration, historian work, and data dashboards.
This is an early-career role designed for growth with hands-on field time and on-project ownership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Computer, or Systems Engineering or related field.
- 2+ years in controls software, PLC programming, SCADA development, or related automation work.
- Hands-on PLC programming experience with major platforms (Rockwell, Siemens).
- Exposure to SCADA or HMI development on Ignition, FactoryTalk, AVEVA, or WinCC.
- Willingness to work hands-on during loop checks, commissioning, and plant support.
Responsibilities
- Develop and modify PLC and DCS applications on Rockwell, Siemens, or equivalent platforms.
- Build and maintain SCADA content on Ignition, FactoryTalk, AVEVA, or WinCC.
- Develop HMI displays per ISA-101/HPHMI style guides and review displays before release.
- Configure alarm setpoints and ISA-88 batch logic under senior guidance.
- Troubleshoot control system software faults and support commissioning tests.
