Job summary

Valar Atomics invites engineers to join the Automation and Controls team to develop, configure, test, and commission control software for reactor and fuel manufacturing facilities. You will work under senior direction on PLC programming, SCADA/HMI development, batch control, alarm config, and historian work while growing ownership in a first-of-a-kind reactor program.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Computer, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
2+ years of experience in controls software, PLC programming, SCADA development, or related automation work.
Hands-on PLC programming experience with major platforms (Rockwell, Siemens, or equivalent) and IEC 61131-3 languages.
Exposure to SCADA or HMI development on major platforms (Ignition, FactoryTalk, AVEVA, WinCC).
Familiarity with reading P&IDs, loop diagrams, and I/O lists; basic understanding of ISA standards.

Responsibilities

Develop and modify PLC and DCS application code on platforms like Rockwell/Siemens with IEC 61131-3 languages.
Build and maintain SCADA content on Ignition, FactoryTalk, AVEVA, or WinCC with tags and scripts.
Develop HMI displays per ISA-101/HPHMI style guide and ensure review before release.
Implement ISA-88 batch logic and equipment module code within batch architecture; support recipes.
Configure alarms, deadbands, and KPI reports; support safety logic work under IEC 61511 with supervision.
Configure historian tags and dashboards; build process data dashboards and operational reports.
Write SQL queries and Python scripts for data processing and test automation.
Maintain engineering records with nuclear quality traceability.
