Job summary

Pearson is seeking a forward deployed engineer to embed with internal lines of business, delivering production AI software directly in users' workflows. You will design and ship end-to-end systems, starting from discovered needs and evolving in real-time with customer feedback.

You'll own frontend, backend, data, and deployment, applying frontier LLMs, agents, and retrieval systems to real problems. Strong collaboration and rapid iteration are essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of full-stack engineering experience, including end-to-end production systems.
• Strong CS fundamentals and system design ability.
• Frontend depth with React/TypeScript and component architecture.
• Backend depth in Node.js, Java, and Python; API design and auth experience.
• Production LLM experience with prompting, agents, retrieval, and deployment.
• Fluency with AI-assisted development tools and agent coding at pace.
• Data fluency with databases and Python data tooling.
• Cloud deployment fluency across AWS/GCP/Azure with real URL exposure.
• Integration with external systems: SSO, OAuth, APIs, legacy DBs.
• High agency and collaboration across teams in a large org.

Responsibilities

• Go where the problem is by working directly with internal stakeholders and design end-to-end systems.
• Conduct real discovery by sitting with users and translating findings into buildable work.
• Build solutions during discussions, delivering working software fast.
• Handle input from messy sources and convert into coherent implementations.
• Ship production AI applications on frontier models and maintain production readiness.
• Iterate across engagements, shipping multiple versions rapidly.
• Own the full stack and the deployment lifecycle, from frontend to observability.
