Capital One is hiring Staff AI Engineer (Remote Eligible). The role focuses on building responsible and reliable AI systems to transform banking experiences.

You will work on foundation model training, inference, and multi-agent workflows, leveraging Open Source and SaaS AI tech to optimize performance, cost, and latency. You will mentor engineers, contribute to the AI architecture standards, and ensure governance, observability, and fairness by design across projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's in CS/AI/EE/CE with 6+ years of AI/ML experience.
Experience programming with Python/Go/Scala/CUDA/Java (8+ years).

Responsibilities

Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products.
Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components.
Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI technologies.
Invent and optimize foundation model performance for scale and cost.
Contribute to technical vision and long-term AI roadmap.
Set enterprise-wide AI architecture direction.
Own design/integration of model routing, caching, and orchestration.
Champion responsible AI principles across system design.
Drive internal education and best-practices dissemination.
