Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Staff AI Engineer to help build and scale responsible AI systems. You will partner with engineers, researchers, PMs, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products that transform how associates and customers interact with Capital One.

You will design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components, including foundation model training, LLM inference, agents, and governance. Remote work is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's in a relevant field with substantial AI/ML work.
• Experience building production AI/ML systems and pipelines.
• Strong programming skills and ability to optimize training/inference.

Responsibilities

• Partner with engineers, researchers, PMs, and product managers on AI products.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components.
• Leverage OSS and SaaS AI tech like AWS Ultraclusters, HuggingFace, PyTorch.
• Invent optimization techniques for cost, latency, and throughput.
• Contribute to technical vision and enterprise AI architecture standards.
• Own model routing, caching, and orchestration for multi-model workloads.
• Champion responsible AI, transparency, reproducibility, and fairness-by-design.
• Drive education and dissemination of best practices through councils.
