Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Staff AI Engineer to build scalable, responsible AI systems. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to design and deploy AI software, including foundation model training, inference, and multi-agent workflows, leveraging Open Source and SaaS tools.

You will help set enterprise AI standards, drive observability, and foster mentorship while delivering high-impact customer experiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus 8+ years AI/ML experience or Master's plus 6+ years.
• 8+ years of Python/Go/Scala/CUDA/Java programming.
• Experience designing AI systems with tradeoffs on cost, latency and throughput.
• Experience deploying AI on cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Ability to lead and mentor engineering teams and influence stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers, researchers, PMs and managers to deliver AI-powered products.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including models and workloads.
• Advance foundation model optimization for performance, cost and latency.
• Contribute to Capital One's AI architecture standards and governance.
• Champion responsible AI principles with transparency and fairness-by-design.
