Job summary

Capital One is seeking an experienced AI Engineer to design and deliver AI-powered products and infrastructure. You will partner with cross-functional teams to implement foundation models, model routing, and multi-model workflows at scale.

You will apply state‑of‑the‑art techniques for training and inference optimization, influence enterprise AI architecture, and mentor engineers to raise the bar for quality and governance across Capital One's AI initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields, plus 8+ years of AI/ML experience; or Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience.
• 8+ years of Python/Go/Scala/CUDA/Java programming experience.
• Experience deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Experience architecting, delivering, and supporting complex AI systems.
• Ability to lead and mentor multiple engineering teams and influence stakeholders up to VP level.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including foundation model training, LLM inference, agents, and workflows.
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI tech like AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, PyTorch.
• Invent optimization techniques to improve performance, cost, latency, and throughput of large-scale AI systems.
• Contribute to technical vision and enterprise AI architecture standards across teams.
• Mentor teams and drive AI guild initiatives to spread best practices.
