Job summary

Capital One is hiring for a Staff AI Engineer (Remote Eligible). You will design, develop, and deploy AI software components, including foundation model training, LLM inference, agents, and multi-model workflows, using a broad stack of Open Source and SaaS AI technologies.

You will partner with engineers, scientists, PMs, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products, optimize performance, and ensure responsible AI practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 8+ years AI/ML experience or Master's with 6+ years
• 8+ years of experience programming with Python, Go, Scala, CUDA, or Java
• Experience designing AI systems with tradeoffs around cost, latency, throughput and accuracy
• 8+ years deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure)

Responsibilities

• Partner with a cross-functional team to deliver AI-powered products
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI technologies (AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, PyTorch)
• Invent state-of-the-art foundation model optimization techniques
• Contribute to technical vision and long-term roadmaps
• Set architecture direction for enterprise-wide AI tooling and standards
• Own design/integration of model routing, caching, and orchestration systems
• Champion responsible AI principles and reproducibility
• Drive internal education and dissemination of best practices
