Job summary

Pearson is seeking a forward deployed engineer to directly embed with internal lines of business, turning vague problems into working software. You will own the full stack, ship production AI apps, and closely observe users in real-world workflows to deliver measurable results.

Ideal candidates bring 8+ years of full-stack experience, strong CS fundamentals, React/TS frontend expertise, and production LLM deployment experience.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of full-stack engineering experience shipping production systems.
• Strong CS fundamentals; ability to whiteboard service architectures.
• Frontend depth with React and TypeScript; polished UI craftsmanship.
• Backend depth in Node.js, Java and Python; API design and security.
• Production LLM experience; real deployments, evaluation and scaling.
• Fluency with AI-assisted development tools and agent coding.
• Data tooling proficiency; working with databases and Python tooling.
• Cloud deployment fluency across AWS, GCP or Azure; CI/CD and observability.
• Integration experience with SSO, OAuth, APIs and legacy systems.
• High agency and collaboration across large teams; cross-functional communication.
• Currency with evolving AI stacks and agent patterns.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Go where the problem is, partnering with internal stakeholders end-to-end.
• Conduct real discovery by observing users and translating needs into buildable work.
• Build during conversations; deliver working software quickly, not just wireframes.
• Handle messy inputs and synthesize into coherent solutions from varied sources.
• Ship production AI applications on frontier LLMs, agents, and retrieval systems.
• Iterate across engagements, delivering continual improvements.
• Own the full stack, deployment, observability, and stakeholder delivery.
• Codify patterns and share learnings with platform and engineering teams.
