Job summary

RethinkFirst in Kansas City, MO is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our accounting and finance team, reporting to the Controller. This role will perform day-to-day accounting, support month-end close, and ensure GAAP compliance.

Ideal candidates have 2–3 years of accounting experience, a relevant undergraduate degree, and advanced Excel skills ( Pivot tables and VLOOKUP ). We offer a remote-first workplace with national reach and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Preferred undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance, with 2–3 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Advanced Excel skills (ability to create pivot tables, VLOOKUP functions)

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day accounting activities, including bank reconciliations.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
• Assist the month-end close process, including balance sheet and P&L reconciliations.
• Ensure deadlines are met for financial reporting and management review.
• Support external auditors by providing requested documentation.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and GAAP standards
