Job summary

Hightower Advisors, based in Chicago, seeks a Staff Accountant to support the Controllership function. You will be part of a small team, reporting to the Revenue Manager, handling bank reconciliations, AR analysis, and GL entries as part of a fast-paced finance group.

The role requires a BA in accounting and 1–3+ years of experience, with strong Excel skills and the ability to collaborate across departments. Hybrid schedule with on-site presence in Chicago and occasional remote work on Fridays.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
• 1-3+ years of accounting experience.
• Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Data Sorting).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed monthly bank reconciliations in Oracle.
• Monitor and analyze accounts receivable with billing team and advisor community.
• Prepare general ledger entries related to cash and revenue.
• Ensure accurate monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
• Review monthly P&Ls for advisor businesses with variance explanations.
• Review and resolve financial inquiries related to responsibilities.
• Collaborate with internal operations and third-party providers on deliverables.
• Support annual financial audits as needed.
• Build collaborative, team-oriented relationships.
