Job summary

IHDA is seeking an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join our Financial Reporting & Analysis team in Illinois. You will contribute to accurate financial reporting, analyze performance, and support accounting and audit activities across departments.

Responsibilities include quarterly statements, close processes, variance analysis, and ACFR/GFOA reporting. A strong Excel skillset, GAAP/GASB knowledge, and teamwork are essential for success. Hybrid schedule; Illinois residency preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• At least four years of experience in accounting or financial reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of GAAP and GASB standards.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare quarterly financial statements, supporting schedules, and monthly Board reports.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes.
• Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and identify trends.
• Develop management reports that provide financial insights for decision-making.
• Assist with ACFR and annual GFOA reporting activities.
• Coordinate external audit activities and track auditor requests.
• Maintain the general ledger structure and classifications.
• Research GAAP/GASB standards to ensure compliant reporting.
• Collaborate across departments to resolve issues and support special projects.
