A Senior Staff Accountant position in Chicago, IL is offered as a contract with hybrid in-office and remote Fridays after training. The role covers full-cycle accounting including AP, AR, journal entries, and month-end close.

Aston Carter emphasizes accuracy, teamwork, and process improvements in a fast-growing tech environment. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of accounting experience, a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, and proficiency with QuickBooks.

• Minimum of 5+ years of accounting experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is highly preferred.
• Proficiency in standard accounting systems, such as QuickBooks.
• Strong focus on accuracy, completeness, and quality of work.
• Exceptional attention to detail and solid organizational abilities.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
• Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team while also managing independent tasks.

Mansioni

• Own or significantly support the full month-end close process.
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
• Complete monthly balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations.
• Manage full-cycle Accounts Payable, including invoice review, coding, approvals, vendor reconciliations, and payment runs.
• Support Accounts Receivable, including customer billing, cash application, and account reconciliation.
• Reconcile cash activity across multiple bank accounts and resolve discrepancies.
• Calculate variable compensation payments and related accruals.
• Research and resolve accounting variances with internal teams, customers, and vendors.
• Support year-end close and audit-related activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and established accounting standards.
