Sr. Field Service Technician

Position Overview:

This position reports to the Service Team Leader.

Your Role and Responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to execute service work as per work instructions and in accordance with ABB quality and safety guidelines. Each day, you will deliver quality customer service, planning and executing service work as per customer orders and expectations. You will showcase your expertise by ensuring customer retention through effective communication of service work timelines and expectations.

The work model for this role is remote and contributes to the Electrification Smart Power division in Northern Virginia.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  1. Working with the customer (on-site) to identify opportunities to improve operations and eliminate pain points.
  2. Performing field service tasks, identifying technical issues, and conducting analysis through remote or on-site activities for service categories and products for which you are certified.
  3. Preparing material lists needed for service activities and ensuring availability and quality of all materials, parts, and equipment.
  4. Acting as a trainer when needed for field service associates and customers.
Qualifications for the Role
  • Associates Degree or Technical School training.
  • 5 years of experience in servicing critical power equipment, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Broad experience in Field Service or related roles focusing on Critical Power Systems (Uninterruptible Power Supplies, Power Distribution, Static Switch Battery, and Power Conditioning Systems).
  • Experience with Medium Voltage power conditioning and distribution equipment is a plus.
  • Must have work authorization to work for ABB in the US.
