Job summary

S.A. Comunale seeks an experienced sprinkler design professional to draft sprinkler layouts per NFPA standards. You will identify building types, select protection methods, and coordinate with other trades on complex projects while maintaining project budgets and schedules.

Must have strong AutoCAD (or AutoSPRINK) skills, NFPA knowledge, and the ability to travel to job sites. NICET is a plus; mentorship of trainees is encouraged, with a focus on quality, teamwork, and safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 3+ years of fire protection design experience is required.
• Engineering background is a plus.
• Mechanical aptitude is required.
• Proficiency in Hydratec CAD programs or AutoSPRINK is required.
• NICET Certification is a plus.
• Ability to conduct a field survey alone or with others to obtain all proper dimensions and information is required.
• Ability to travel to job sites by plane or vehicle required.
• Ability to think strategically, make sound decisions, and produce accurate and timely results is required.
• Building positive working relationships with multiple levels of employees and management is required.
• Demonstrating integrity and professionalism is required.
• Demonstrating commitment to company values is required.
• Excellent organizational skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Produce sprinkler drawings per NFPA standards.
• Identify building construction type and hazard for protection.
• Coordinate design with other trades on complex projects.
• Estimate and schedule design hours.
• Produce hydraulic calculations and material submittals.
• Complete project paperwork and testing documents.
• Ensure compliance with NFPA 13 and related codes.
• Mentor Trainees and Junior Designers as needed.
