Job summary

DORMAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL in Springfield, MA is seeking a dedicated SPED Paraprofessional to support students with moderate to severe needs. You will work under a special educator, delivering rigorous academic and behavioral interventions, and lead tutoring sessions to promote student success.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, 60 college credits or an associate’s degree, and ParaPro or WorkKeys certification. Collaborative, student-centered approach encouraged.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• 60 credit hours of college coursework or an associate’s degree.
• Passing score on ParaPro Assessment or WorkKeys Certificate of Proficiency for Teacher Assistants.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including public speaking.
• Ability to work with families and collaborate with teachers.

Responsibilities

• Work with a small case load of students to drive academic achievement for students with moderate to severe needs.
• Implement rigorous academic and behavior intervention systems for students under the supervision of a special educator.
• Provide consistent high academic and behavioral expectations.
• Support mastery of state and local standards.
• Lead daily individual and small group tutoring sessions.
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.

Education
