Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; technical or college training in HVAC preferred.
• Troubleshooting of HVAC, electrical, plumbing systems; ability to perform repairs.
• Knowledge of building automation and safety standards (OSHA).
• Ability to read blueprints and manuals; lift up to 50 lbs; climb ladders.
• Pass physical exam; valid IL driver’s license; willing to emergency respond.
• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus; strong teamwork and communication.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair and maintain building systems and HVAC equipment.
• Troubleshoot boilers, chillers, air handlers and related components.
• Repair electrical, water, steam distribution and kitchen equipment.
• Assist in renovations of classrooms and offices as needed.
• Respond to fire alarm, elevator and HVAC emergencies promptly.
• Operate building automation systems; collect data for reports.
• Maintain safe operation and compliance with OSHA requirements.
• Assist in snow removal and participate in after-hours calls.
• Document work and communicate status to supervisors.
• Maintain cooperative relationships with colleagues and campus community.
• Report damages to Grounds Superintendent.
