Job summary

Des Plaines Park District seeks a Facility Maintenance I to perform general, specialized and preventative maintenance across district buildings, emphasizing HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems. Regular schedule is M-F, 12:30 PM–9:00 PM, with a summer shift 1:30 PM–10:00 PM.

The ideal candidate will hold a high school diploma or GED, have at least two years of related experience, and possess CPR/First Aid certifications; a valid Illinois driver's license is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years related maintenance experience required.
• CPR and First Aid certifications required or available through the district.
• Valid Illinois driver’s license preferred, not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems.
• Diagnose mechanical issues and source parts for repairs.
• Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance of facilities.
• Operate in on-call status for emergencies and special events.
• Assist with snow removal, event support, and general facility upkeep.
• Manage daily custodial tasks and site set-ups as needed.
