Job summary

Joliet Junior College, a public community college in Joliet, IL, seeks a Special Maintenance employee to perform installations, repairs and specialized maintenance of building systems. Candidate will follow safety standards (OSHA) and work under the Maintenance Superintendent and Leads to ensure efficient operations and customer service.

Responsibilities include maintaining HVAC, electrical, plumbing and boiler equipment, reading blueprints, and supporting renovations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Technical school or college HVAC training completed.
• CFC certification or ability to obtain within 1 year.
• Must possess a valid Illinois Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air handlers and related HVAC equipment.
• Repair and install electrical, water, steam systems and kitchen equipment.
• Renovate classrooms, offices, labs as needed.
• Respond to fire alarm and elevator issues; emergency readiness.
• Operate and maintain building automation systems (Metasys).
• Manage compressed air and natural gas distribution systems.
• Monitor temperatures/humidity for efficient conditioning and utility savings.
• Read blueprints and technical manuals; research information online.
• Support building equipment and structures; report damages to Grounds team.
• Assist in snow removal; participate in emergency call list.
