Job summary

North Central College is seeking a Maintenance Worker to ensure the continued operation of buildings, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and related systems. The role involves regular inspection, preventative maintenance, and coordination with contractors to minimize disruption to campus operations.

The position requires a high school diploma, at least one year of building maintenance experience, EPA refrigerant certification, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum one year of building maintenance experience (HVAC).
• EPA universal Refrigerant Certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect the exterior and interior areas of assigned buildings regularly; report safety concerns.
• Coordinate with supervisor and assignment board to ensure timely completion of activities.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repair HVAC, boilers, pumps, fans, motors, and controls.
• Maintain building access/egress areas and remove debris and snow/ice.
• Carry out projects involving installations, renovations, or remodeling as directed by supervisor.
• Coordinate activities with building users and contractors to minimize disruption to operations.
• May be assigned to work at other locations or be on-call for emergencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
