Compensation Details: Starting Pay - $50,500

Work Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00am -5:00pm, Summer Schedule:Monday-Thursday, 7:30am -6:00pm

Job Summary

Reporting to the assigned department leader, the Specialist,Academic Support assists with development of office workflow andtechnical procedures for Academic Support Services including transfer equivalence tables, degree audits, institution research, prior learning assessment, office web page, course section development and maintenance, academic and event space management, and/or other office assignments.

Essential Performance Requirements
  • Applies technical skills to troubleshoot the academic and eventspace management system, transfer equivalence, academic calendar, course sections, degree audit, and other academic application
  • Performs ongoing maintenance of various academic tables, such ascourses, transfer equivalencies, and institution research in thestudent information system
  • Evaluates findings from regular audits of various academictables, making informed decisions to conduct maintenance
  • Provides guidance for the development of scheduled classes eachterm
  • Determines student eligibility to award prior learning assessmentcredit and adjust degree audit requirements for course-worksubstitutions, ensuring compliance with institutionalguidelines
  • Assists with development of the schedule, including schedulerecommendations and space allocation
  • Assists the Coordinator with project planning, design,development, and implementation with exception to degree audits,institution research, transfer equivalencies, courses, sections,academic and event space management, prior learning assessment, andterm sessions
  • Provides district support and assists with training for exceptionto degree audits, institution research, transfer equivalencies,courses, sections, academic and event space management, priorlearning assessment, and term sessions
  • Collects and analyzes data for identification of trends to informschedule development and ensure compliance with institutional andstate guidelines
  • Assists with system setup and maintenance for space managementand academic scheduling solutions
  • Interprets course section and space management inquiries andperforms corresponding operational actions, ensuring compliancewith scheduling protocols and system workflows
  • Conducts routine and ad hoc audits of course sections, roominventories, and event data to ensure accuracy and compliance,completing necessary updates
Service Excellence
  • Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the essentialperformance requirements
  • Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, andfollows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of theworksite
  • Completes all required training and professional developmentsessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
  • Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of theCollege
Supervision
  • Works under the general supervision of the assigned departmentleader

Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or 60 college hours
  • Two (2) years' working experience related to the EssentialPerformance Requirements
Preferred Qualifications
  • Microsoft Excel Specialist: Microsoft Excel Associate or Microsoft Excel Specialist: Microsoft Excel Expertcertification
  • At least one (1) year’s working experience with room reservation or scheduling software systems such as Ad Astra
  • At least one (1) year’s working experience managing studentinformation in an Enterprise Resource Planning system such as Colleague
  • At least one (1) year’s working experience developing and leadingtraining
  • At least one (1) year’s working experience with section building and maintenance for credit and non-credit courses
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of higher education standards and policies
  • Skilled in excellent customer service, including stronglistening, verbal, and written communication
  • Skilled using applications and enterprise systems, including wordprocessing, spreadsheet, and presentation software such asMicrosoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicateproblems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work arevaried, and unpredictable in scope and volume
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
