Job description

The ABECC Testing Specialist 1 prepares and administers assessments to adult basic education students in compliance with the State assessment policy and College procedures and guidelines. Provides student services support, including assisting adult basic education students in navigating college systems and enrollment processes, performing data entry, and managing confidential student records. The work schedule for this position is flexible and may include working evenings and weekends. Continued employment in the position is contingent upon continued funding through designated external sources. This grant is set to expire on 06/30/2028.

About Temporary Employment:

This position has two vacant positions and will establish a qualified applicant pool for part-time temporary positions. Applications will remain active for 6 months to a year and selected candidates may be contacted as positions become available or when immediate staffing needs arise. Placement in the pool does not guarantee employment. The applicant pool will be refreshed annually. Temporary applicants may be hired for specific assignments or placed in an applicant pool for future opportunities, depending on enrollment levels and business needs. If selected from this pool of applicants, candidates contacted will receive details regarding the specific assignment and will have the opportunity to confirm interest and availability. We are seeking dedicated part-time temporary employees to join our qualified applicant pool. Selected candidates will be considered for placement as positions become available or when immediate staffing needs arise. Part-time temporary roles offer flexible scheduling and the opportunity to support a diverse population of students in achieving their educational goals.

  • Administers Adult Basic Education standardized assessments in accordance with college, state, and federal guidelines, ensuring adherence to testing and compliance protocols
  • Provides student-focused support in navigating College systems, services, and processes
  • Facilitates assessment preparation, scheduling, and testing processes
  • Collects, enters, compiles, and maintains accurate and confidential student records across multiple databases and systems, ensuring data integrity and alignment with local,state, and federal regulations, policies, and guidance to maintain compliance with FERPA, WIOA, State, College, and grant compliance
  • Implements and follows departmental procedures, forms, and processes in coordination with Adult Basic Education for College & Career, the PCC Testing department, and the office of Access & Disability Resources
  • Collaborates with the Testing & Placement Department to support aligned testing and placement processes
  • Provides advanced office support to administration and management. Assists Directors and AVC with data-related reports of a confidential nature, as needed
  • Provides courteous, knowledgeable, and professional assistance to students and other stakeholders, responding to inquiries and providing accurate information regarding applicable processes and procedures
  • Builds and maintains cooperative working relationships with students, employees, and other stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and experiences
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED and Up to one year of related student or customer service experience or An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, such as those listed above
  • Preferred: One to three years of related experience
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures and practices
  • Knowledge of internal and external customer service principles and practices
  • Skill in effective communication (both written and oral)
  • Skill in performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature
