Job summary

ChanceLight Behavioral Health, Therapy, & Education, a ChanceLight company, seeks a Special Education Teacher to design personalized instruction for elementary students with IEPs and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons in a learning center or classroom.

You will collaborate with colleagues, implement PBIS strategies, track progress, and prepare detailed lesson plans and schedules to support diverse learning needs in a supportive, mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in education or related field.
• Licensed IL professional educator credential (PEL) or in process.
• IL SSE or LBS1 credential (in progress).
• Crisis management training certification.
• Experience with curriculum development, differentiation and instruction in alternative/special education or behavioral health settings.
• Experience with IEPs and compliance.
• Strong communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
• Ability to act quickly and calmly in emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Lead instructional process for Elementary School students with IEPs, delivering targeted instruction.
• Deliver differentiated instruction in co‑teaching environments to meet IEP goals.
• Develop and implement individualized education plans and interventions.
• Track progress and maintain accurate student records and reports.
• Prepare detailed daily lesson plans and align with standards.
• Maintain a safe, organized, welcoming classroom and manage resources.
• Operate with PBIS strategies and school-wide behavior plans.
• Collaborate with staff and families to support student growth.
