Job summary

ChanceLight Behavioral Health, Therapy, & Education, a ChanceLight company, is seeking a Special Education Teacher to join our Elementary Learning Center. You will design personalized instruction for students with IEPs, delivering engaging lessons and collaborating with staff to support diverse needs.

The role emphasizes differentiated instruction, PBIS, and data-driven progress tracking, with opportunities to contribute to innovative programs within a social-m mission‑driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in education or closely related field.
• Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining an IL professional educator credential.
• Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining an IL state special education or LBS1 credential.
• Ability to obtain and maintain crisis management training certification.
• Experience with curriculum development, differentiation and instruction in special education settings.
• Knowledge of services and compliance for students with learning disabilities, emotional disturbance and challenging behaviors.
• Experience with IEPs and related educational planning.
• Strong communication, organization, problem solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to respond calmly in emergencies and make independent decisions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, databases and instructional technology.

Responsibilities

• Lead instructional process for Elementary School students with IEPs, designing personalized learning experiences.
• Deliver targeted instruction using innovative resources and educational software.
• Create comprehensive lesson plans aligned to standards and student objectives.
• Maintain organized, safe classroom environment and documentation.
• Collaborate in co-teaching settings to meet IEP goals.
• Differentiate content and strategies to accommodate diverse learners.
• Track progress, generate reports and communicate with families and staff.
• Manage IEPs, goals and interventions for caseload.
• Stay informed on current research-based practices and trends.
• Respond to evaluations and pursue ongoing professional growth.
• Support school community with additional duties as needed.
