Job summary

ChanceLight Behavioral Health, Therapy, & Education, a ChanceLight company, seeks a Special Education Teacher for our Elementary School learning center. You will lead instructional planning for students with IEPs, delivering targeted instruction and creating personalized experiences aligned with state standards.

Work collaboratively with staff to support diverse learning needs in an innovative environment that values PBIS and student growth. IL licensure or in-progress credentials required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field.
  • IL PEL credential (in process or current).
  • IL SSE or LBS1 credential (in process or current).
  • Ability to obtain crisis management training certification.
  • Experience with curriculum development, differentiation and instruction in alternative/special education or behavioral health.
  • Experience with IEPs and compliance for students with learning/behavioral needs.
  • Skilled in motivating students and having constructive conversations toward goals.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem solving and decision making.

Responsibilities

  • Create an inclusive environment involving students, parents, colleagues and administrators.
  • Establish PBIS-based classroom climate with clear expectations.
  • Implement PBIS strategies, rewards and consequences.
  • Track progress, maintain files and generate reports.
  • Deliver differentiated instruction in co-teaching to meet IEP goals.
  • Adapt curricula for diverse learning styles and coach staff on differentiation.
  • Utilize instructional software and varied methods to support needs.
  • Manage caseload, develop/update IEPs and interventions.
  • Prepare detailed daily lesson plans aligned to standards.
  • Maintain safe, organized classroom and manage resources.
  • Stay informed on current best practices in special education.
  • Respond to feedback and pursue ongoing professional growth.
  • Support school community with additional duties as assigned.
