Job summary

The Michigan City Area Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional to assist the teacher with implementing IEPs for students with disabilities, across special and general education settings. The role works as part of a team to support instructional and functional needs in the classroom.

Key duties include maintaining confidentiality, supporting teachers and staff, and contributing to a positive work environment. CPI training may be required for ED positions, and some MO positions involve student

Qualifications

• Experience working with students and understanding educational settings.
• Desire to positively influence students' lives and prior recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain student and staff confidentiality
• Comply with rules and procedures set by Building Principal
• Be part of the total support team for students and staff
• Be professional in dealings with students, staff and parents
• Support the teacher and related staff who assist the student
• Support educator/teacher goals for each student
• Aid in creating a positive work environment
• Communicate concerns to the teacher in a timely and professional manner
• Be on time and maintain good attendance, report as requested
• Attend in-services when provided during a school day
• Request teacher support when necessary
• Communicate important information to the teacher concerning the student
• ED positions require CPI training
• MO positions require assistance with student's hygiene
