Job summary

Michigan City Area Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional to assist the teacher with implementing IEPs for students with disabilities. The position follows a school year schedule and provides 5.75 hours per day, reporting to the Building Principal.

The role involves supporting in multiple learning environments, maintaining confidentiality, and collaborating with staff to meet each student’s goals. Training may include CPI for educational duties and hygiene support as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 60 college credits or passing Para Pro Exam.
• Previous experience with students and educational settings is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain student and staff confidentiality
• Comply with standard rules, regulations, and procedures assigned by Building Principal
• Be part of the total support team for students and staff
• Be professional when dealing with students, staff, and parents
• Support the teacher and related staff, who provide service for the student
• Support the educator/teacher's overall goals and objectives for each individual student
• Aid in the development and maintenance of a positive work environment
• Communicate concerns to the administrator or assigned teacher in a timely and professional manner
• Be on time and maintain good attendance, report to the requested area or work site
• Attend in-services upon notification, when provided during a school day
• Request teacher support when necessary or when more explanation is needed
• Communicate important information to the teacher concerning the student
• ED positions require CPI training
• MOpositions require assistance with student's hygiene

Education
