Job summary

Michigan City Area Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional to assist teachers in implementing Individual Education Programs for students with disabilities across various settings.

The position emphasizes confidentiality, teamwork, and professional conduct to support student success. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, 60 college credits or Para Pro score, and prior education experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 60 college credit hours or passing score on the Para Pro Exam.
• Previous experience working with students; desire to positively influence students’ lives.

Responsibilities

• Maintain student and staff confidentiality
• Comply with standard rules, regulations, and procedures assigned by Building Principal
• Be part of the total support team for students and staff
• Be professional when dealing with students, staff, and parents
• Support the teacher and related staff, who provide service for the student
• Support the educator/teacher's overall goals for each student
• Aid in the development and maintenance of a positive work environment
• Communicate concerns to the administrator or assigned teacher in a timely and professional manner
• Be on time and maintain good attendance, report to the requested area or work site
• Attend in-services upon notification, when provided during a school day
• Request teacher support when necessary or when more explanation is needed
• Communicate important information to the teacher concerning the student
• ED positions require CPI training
• MO positions require assistance with student's hygiene
