Job summary

Michigan City Area Schools seeks a paraprofessional to assist teachers in implementing Individual Education Programs for students with disabilities. You will work in both special and general education settings, providing educational, mobility, behavior, and functional skills support as part of a collaborative team.

The role reports to the building principal and follows a school-year schedule with 5.75 hours per day.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 60 college credit hours or passingPara Pro exam required.
• Experience with students and positive references preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain student and staff confidentiality.
• Comply with rules and procedures set by Building Principal.
• Be part of the total support team for students and staff.
• Be professional with students, staff and parents.
• Support teacher and related staff to implement IEP goals.
• Assist across settings: special and general education classrooms.
• Assist with educational, mobility, vocational, behavior, functional skills activities.
• Attend in-services when provided during a school day.
