Job summary

Michigan City Area Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional to assist teachers in implementing Individual Education Programs for students with disabilities. The role includes working in special education and general education settings, providing educational and behavioral support, and assisting with mobility, hygiene, and functional skills as needed.

A team-oriented approach is emphasized and CPI training may be required for certain positions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 60 college credit hours or passing score on the Para Pro Exam.
• Previous experience working with students and understanding of educational settings is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain student and staff confidentiality.
• Comply with rules and procedures set by the Building Principal.
• Be part of the total support team for students and staff.
• Be professional when dealing with students, staff, and parents.
• Support the teacher and related staff in meeting student goals.
• Aid in development and maintenance of a positive work environment.
• Communicate concerns to the administrator or teacher promptly.
• Attend in-services as notified.
• Report to the requested area or work site.

Education
