Job summary

Chesterfield County Public Schools seeks an instructional assistant to support students with IEPs under a special education teacher. You will help with classroom tasks, prepare instructional materials, and implement accommodations to help students access instruction.

The role requires effective communication, professionalism with confidential information, and willingness to complete required background investigations and certifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and/or experience meeting the knowledge and abilities stated.
• First Aid/CPR/AED certification required.
• Ability to work with students with IEPs and with confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Assist special education teachers with classroom duties, including recording grades, preparing instructional materials, and administering instructional and testing accommodations.
• Assist students one-on-one or in small groups or during whole group instruction as directed by the special education teacher.
• Help students onto and off the school bus and supervise during lunch and recess as indicated in the IEP.
• Provide clerical assistance – typing, filing, maintaining records and ordering supplies.
• Implements accommodations in a child’s IEP as directed by the special education teacher.
• Operates computer, duplicating equipment and assistive tech devices; supports related services as appropriate.
• Performs other related duties as required.
