Job summary

Chesterfield County Public Schools is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support special education students under the direction of a licensed teacher. You will prepare instructional materials, record progress and assist during instructional activities in both general and special education settings.

The role involves assisting with transportation and lunch supervision per IEPs, implementing accommodations, and performing clerical tasks.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of childhood growth and development and behavior management techniques.
• Ability to supervise children when the teacher is absent.
• Ability to perform basic clerical tasks and follow written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Assists special education teachers with classroom duties such as recording grades and preparing instructional materials.
• Supports students during instructional activities one-on-one or in groups as directed.
• Supervises students on the school bus and during lunch/recess as indicated in IEPs.
• Provides clerical support including typing, filing and ordering supplies.
